Presentation of Eric Itschert’Works
Faun, drawing (ink pen) and watercolor on Schoeller Durex paper, 24,8 cm X 34,8 cm, © Eric Itschert
“One of my models has a small Native American side with a very brown skin and slightly almond eyes. His face is very often represented, hardly changed, in my drawings.
One day this boy came to my studio with a make-up kit. He wanted to do something new: finally I suggested drawing some tattoos on his body.
Fortunately I had a wonderful book about Polynesian tattoos in my library. He was soon captivated by the idea. After some tries, the tattoos were drawn along his body, especially his legs.”
The result of this day is represented in the watercolours painting here above.
This painting of a nude boy is using watercolor and pencil on Arches paper.
Arches paper is high quality, air-dried paper that is used by printers and watercolorists. It has a warm white colour. Arches paper is valued for its durability, and is made in the village of Arches in the Vosges (France).
The watercolors are Professional Winsor & Newton Watercolours.

A shadowy figure swimming under water. A ray reflected on a surface of a swimming-pool. Sun-soaked naked body and aquatic environments that are both familiar and mysterious.
Watercolours reflecting the theme of water and fine abstractions departing from the reality: that is the spectacle Eric Itschert invites us to discover.
It is an invitation to pierce the “veil of Maya” of appearances; it is a voyage to discover the Light enveloping our world.
The visitor will have also the pleasure to discover Marie Louise Sorbac’s sculptures.
